Pippa Coom
I have strong governance, leadership, community and corporate experience to serve you effectively and professionally. Former Auckland Councillor, a Board Chair and with a legal background as a lawyer for regulated industries including Vector. I’m a passionate Aucklander who will work tirelessly for an Entrust that delivers financial value, serves the community and is accountable.
In 2008 I first became active in finding solutions for building community resilience and a decarbonised future as a founding trustee of Grey Lynn 2030, a local transition town group responding to global challenges; climate change, the end of cheap fossil fuels with community-led action.
In 2009 I stood as an independent candidate in the Entrust (then Auckland Energy Consumers Trust) election seeking to give the Trust a community focus and set a sustainable direction for Vector. My motivation then and now is working for a healthier, resilient, and prosperous Tāmaki Makarau for everyone.
Over the last 14 years I have held a range of governance roles. I served 12 years on Auckland Council up until October 2022. During that time I was Councillor for Waitematā and Gulf ward, chair of the Waitematā Local Board, co-chair of the Hauraki Gulf Forum, Deputy Chair of the Environment and Climate Change Committee and board member, National Council, Local Government New Zealand. I’m currently a member of Te Runanga Papa Atawhai o Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland Conservation Board and chair, Aaiotanga Peace Place Trust.
My approach is collaborative, constructive, positive and effective. I have a track record of getting results for all Aucklanders. My work draws on productive relationships with community, business, stakeholders and mana whenua.
I was born in London and immigrated to New Zealand with my family when I was 14. After attending Auckland Girls’ Grammar School I spent a year in Peru as an AFS student. I hold a LLB (hons) from the University of Otago. I live with my partner in Grey Lynn. An e-bike is my main form of transport but I do own a working 1934 Austin 7 inherited from my dad and am a member of the Vintage Austin Register of NZ.
